Getting to know you, getting to know all about you

Hi readers!
This is one of those things that I've always wondered about. When you're not blogging, what do you do? I'll go first:

Hi, I'm Nick. When I'm not blogging, my real job is working for a PR firm. I also go to a handful of open mics from time to time.

What about you?

Fingers crossed guys!

After touring the apartment and falling a little bit in love with it, I put in the necessary applications and prayed to every deity I could name.

It looks like it's gonna be mine which is at once amazing and also scary. I like the idea of having a place of my own, but I'll have to buy so much stuff to live there. I mean, I only own about two major pieces of furniture, and neither of them are a bed. I also drive a jetta, which is actually useless for hauling anything larger than an end table.

So, readers... what was the one thing you wished you'd had before moving into your first apartment?

So refreshing

Sadly, the super awesome magical Dyson fan fund was exhausted by a rather expensive car repair. More pennies will be saved, however and I'll get one of my own eventually.
Right now, I'm in the process of a belated spring cleaning. My favorite part is the moment when I gather up all the things I no longer use, and recycle them/give them away/sell them. There's something liberating about not being tied down by things you don't need anymore.
How often do y'all go through this process? Are you constantly in the declutter mode or do you do it in one big event?

Let's talk pets

Earlier, I made the joking comment that if your dog clashes with your color palette, you should consider getting a new dog. Bad jokes aside, this is a question that you do need to think about. Our pets scratch, shed and sometimes break things, but we love them all the same. Food, pet beds, bowls and toys all have to go somewhere.

While on the subject of bowls, I'm a little bit in love with these bowls from urban materials + accessories: Not only are they really clean looking, but my cat pushes her water bowl into the middle of the doorway and spills water everywhere. Maybe this will stop her. (Probably not)

So readers, what are your design stories involving your pets? Did Fido break your brand-new DWR lamp? Does Fluffy shed so much that you decided to save time and buy furniture to match her coat? Or have you incorporated your pets seamlessly into your design? Your comments, stories and pictures are all welcome!
